You say you’re here but I beg to differ.
Here is long gone, in your rear-view mirror.
In one second, here moves 18 miles around the sun,
25 miles to the center of the Galaxy,
and 375 miles toward to the Virgo Cluster
Here is there, it’s not here at all.
You say now is now, but you’re wrong again.
Now doesn’t exist; it’s really then.
To prove it, try nailing down now.
On three, catch it in your arms and don’t let go.
Ready? One…two…three!
Is now in your grasp or has it again squirted free?
No longer now, but then, you see.
If here and now are really there and then,
Is there anything at all we can transcend?
Or are we shadows left behind in space and time,
Our reality a fraud, not so sublime?
For we are not the ghost hunters. We are the ghosts
Pretending we exist and matter the most.
